Thirty years ago, ER premiered on NBC, starting a 15-season run that made it one of the most influential shows of its generation. Julianna Margulies was there in the pilot episode, and she stayed on board for the show’s first six seasons, earning Emmy Award nominations for each of those seasons and winning once for her portrayal of Nurse Carol Hathaway. There’s a bit of irony to all the success she achieved on a medical show set in a hospital — as she told us during her time on the show, she’s really not much of a fan of real-life hospitals.
