Georg Gartner a Bécsi Műszaki Egyetem térképészprofesszora, valamint a Nemzetközi Térképészeti Társulás elnöke. 2024 júniusában előadást tartott Bulgáriában a 9. Nemzetközi Térképészeti és Térinformatikai Konferencián, mely a térképek alapvető természetéről, a kartográfia, mint tudományág jövőformáló szerepéről beszélt. Georg Gartner is a professor of cartography at the Technical University of Vienna and the president of the International Cartographic Association (ICA). During the 9th International Conference on Cartography and GIS, he gave a keynote presentation on the pure nature of maps and the future-shaping role of cartography. Prof. László Zentai, former secretary-general of ICA, interviewed him at the conference venue in Nesebar.
