1973 Classic: Sergeant Howie, a devout Christian detective, investigates the disappearance of a young girl on a remote Scottish island. His journey leads him to a pagan cult with unsettling rituals and a shocking climax involving a giant wicker effigy.
2006 Remake: Policeman Edward Malus (played by Nicolas Cage) investigates the disappearance of a girl on a different island. He encounters a bizarre matriarchal community with eerie customs, including a memorable “NOT THE BEES!” scene.
