Bio:
Thayane Cantanhêde, is a percussion instructor and children’s musicalization teacher along with being a chocalho director in Rio's carnaval for over 10 years, and she is a reference when it comes to this instrument.
In her history, she has collected several awards for her performance and contribution to carnival, such as:
Sambanet Award for best bateria with GRES Estácio de Sá in 2010, the Trofeu Bateria Award as the best chocalho wing of 2016 with GRES Estácio de Sá, and currently the 2020 Estandarte de Ouro winner as the best bateria with GRES Unidos from Vila Isabel. She is also responsible for historical and striking choreographies for the baterias, Medalha de Ouro in 2016 and Swingueira de Noel in 2018/Vila Isabel.
In 2015, she also performed as a percussionist in the musical, A Febre do Samba, by the musical director Guilherme Gonçalves, and mestre Odilon Costa. And in 2019, in the Rhythm Orchestra Batuquebato, by musician Gabriel Policarpo.
She is currently the director of chocalhos for GRES Unidos da Vila Isabel, GRES
Academicians of Sossego, G.R. Cacique de Ramos and is an instructor of ganzá and chocalhor for Bloco Batuquebato.
