It's lucky Episode 13, and honestly, getting this one finished before our Spring Break trip turned into a bit of a fever dream. In our first segment we discuss the comic book trope of refusing to sacrifice your child to save the universe. And then we discuss a Tik Tok about blasphemy. And our final segment will remain a mystery for the ages.

As promised, if you want to skip the first segment, you can go right to 24:30.

And now for all the links:

  • Once again, here is What A Day’s great discussion of trans kids coming out at school but not at home.

  • Since we’re now apparently contractually obligated to mention one great graphic novel per episode, you can find Alan Moore’s Watchmen here.

  • The book that Moms tried and failed to accurately mention is Parenting Beyond Belief by Dale McGowan who we’ve mentioned before on the podcast.

  • This is the Tik Tok we discuss.

  • And finally, here’s a nice and bloody clip of Patrick Bateman - I had forgotten how wonderfully deranged Christian Bale is in American Psycho.

The Family Skeptical: We’re a married atheist couple raising two wonderful, strange children. We ask big questions, dissect weird parenting moments, and examine how society ignores or misrepresents families like ours. If you’re any stripe of non-believer who’s involved in raising children, welcome! You are our people.

Our kids are Reader (9) and Go (6), and if you want to find out how we arrived at these peculiar pseudonyms, go back to Episode 1.
