Natana (or Tana) Lynn Thomas went missing sometime in 1978, maybe in the summer, somewhere in Alaska or British Columbia. Natana and her husband, Mike Staso, who was stationed in the Army in Bremerton, Washington, went to Alaska to visit Mike's family. She told the family that on the way home to Tacoma, Washington, they would stop in B.C. and other places to do some sightseeing.

Natana, who is Indigenous and part of the Ponca Tribe of Nebraska, was born on March 14, 1954. She grew up in central California and also spent time in the Bay area. She was married to a man named Mohammad Matar for a brief period before her marriage to Mike.

There are not many theories on what happened to Natana and Mike, but one of the prevalent theories is that Mike may not have been super happy in his military career, and they went AWOL. There are also darker theories that they may have gone missing due to foul play.

To the family's knowledge, neither person was reported missing.

I interviewed Tana's cousin, Lorri, about her disappearance.
