Introducing our brand-new series: Tid-bits for Bottom bits. In this reccuring segment, Sarah and Jess will explore the Pelvic Floor with Alana and Melissa, from Cabot Physiotherapy. We will discuss specific areas of pelvic floor health in each episode, but first, lets chat the basics. What is the pelvic floor? You have one and you've probably been paying little attention to it. Who is pelvic floor physio for? What are some signs and symptoms of a weakened pelvic floor? What issues can be related back to the pelvic floor? Is pain after pregnancy just part of the deal? Is leakage normal? Should we be using lube? Could our orgasms be better? Did you know sex is considered an act of daily living?! There is SO much to discuss - and Jess and Sarah put it all on the table - sharing their own experiences and asking all. the. questions. Alana and Melissa are physiotherapists, moms, friends, women's health advocates, muscular system masters, and pelvic floor specialists. They specialize in therapeutic treatment of all conditions affecting the pelvis and pelvic floor. Pelvic conditions they treat are: Pregnancy & postpartum, Urinary leakage and urgency, Bowel leakage, Pelvic organ prolapse, Pelvic pain (pubic bone, groin, hip, low back, SI joint, tail bone), Pain with intercourse (dyspareunia), Diastasis recti (separation of the abs). This is one area of women's health that can no longer be ignored. We'll learn why we shouldn't bring extra friction to the party & how it's not just Kegels!
