Melissa Fanning is a Training Coordinator, following in her father’s footsteps, who was an Instructor in the Navy, helping people grow. She has been with her employer for 25 years. Melissa graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute with a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration, and from Saint Leo University, where she earned a Master of Science in Criminal Justice. She is the founder of Birthing Purposes LLC, www.birthingpurposes.com, to empower youth and showcase my books.

Melissa received "Employee of the Year" while with my current employer; was recognized for assisting training with the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Service, achieved a certificate from the Association for Talent Development, and received a Meritorious Service Award in 2019 from the Virginia Community Corrections Justice Association.

She has trained thousands of professionals in criminal justice. With expertise in diversity and communication, Melissa is passionate about ensuring that professionals receive high-quality training, technical assistance, and the utilization of best practices.

In addition, Melissa is the author of Sea Lessons with Daddy, an accompanying workbook, and one coloring book, Sea Lessons with Daddy the Coloring Book, Melissa and the Moroccan Chameleon, and the soon-to-be-released Fix Your Crown, Remember Who You Are.

Melissa currently resides in the Tidewater area with her family. She is the oldest of four children to Charles and Delores Fanning and auntie to nine nieces and nephews. Melissa is passionate about growing people, and her goal is to equip and inspire everyone willing to elevate.
