Here’s the replay from Episode #11 of our LIVE Show from May 14 with special guests from Boston, Oaxaca, and Athens to discuss the impact of COVID-19 outbreak on tour guides.

This discussion is moderated by Kevin O’Shaughnessy, co-founder of City Hook and Dublin Travel Massive leader.

In this episode we heard from:

Stephen Oddo, co-founder of Walks

Stephen joined the LIVE Show from Boston. He’s co-founder of Walks – a sightseeing tours & activities company operating in top destinations worldwide. Stephen talks about an entirely new type of tour content, which he thinks will be popular even after the lockdown. He also walked us through his widely successful virtual Tour of Wuhan.

Rebecca Skevaki, founder of Athens, Thessaloniki, Crete and Santorini Urban Adventures

Rebecca joined from Athens, Greece. Her business offers city tours and multiday tailor-made vacations in Athens, Santorini, Crete and Thessaloniki, but unfortunately, they’ve not had any customers for the last months. In order to save the business, they had to make the hard decision to let go 80% of their staff. Listen to Rebecca’s story and plans for the coming months.

Ian Ord, founder of Where Sidewalks End

Ian joined from Oaxaca, Mexico. He started his own tour company Where Sidewalks End in 2013, which currently operates primarily in Southeast Asia. He’s also one of the founders of a co-working space in Oaxaca, which has been closed since March. Existing customers of his tour company were happy to postpone their trips, and he’s still getting requests for future bookings starting around October / November. Ian also talks about his new partnerships.
