Originally from Kenya, Geraldin M. W. Lengai is a post-doctoral fellow in agricultural sciences, specializing in plant protection and agronomy. Her research focuses on the development of a crop protection product for disease management in tomatoes and potatoes. Her dream is to run a laboratory where brilliant researchers from around the world work to provide natural crop protection solutions, especially in East Africa. Supported by various mentors during her career, Geraldin M. W. Lengai believes that young girls’ interest in science should be encouraged from an early age.
She is one of the 20 African women researchers rewarded for the excellence of their scientific work through the For Women in Science Young Talents Program for Sub-Saharan Africa, led by The Fondation L’Oréal and UNESCO.
