Visible Women Episode 2: Diana Schutz
Manage episode 382788024 series 3513375
Our second episode is an interview wth Diana Schutz--editor, writer, translator, and mentor of legend. Our friends Bryan Stratton and Rob Milne of the Marvel By The Month Podcast. You should check it out, it's great!
The Direct Market
- Chuck Rozanski of the legendary Mile High Comics wrote a brief first-person account of the birth of the direct market.
- Dr. William Proctor, Principal Lecturer in Comics, Film & Transmedia at Bournemouth University wrote an excellent piece detailing the birth of the market during breaking of the Diamond monopoly in the Covid-19 shutdowns.
- Publishers Weekly had a great piece earlier this year about how retailers are dealing with the current changes to the comics distribution system.
The Sim of It All
- Probably one of the better pieces about Sim comes from Comics Alliance.
- There is a famous Sequential Tart forum convo between Sim and Gail Simone. Unfortunately, the site is down and it's nearly impossible to find backups. If anyone has the text and would allow us to share it, please send it along.
Friends of Lulu
- In 2021, some of the Helioscope team interviewed Anina Bennett and Heidi MacDonald about their work on Friends of Lulu as part of their virtual con. It's a great convo, and definitely work checking out their perspective.
Diana's Reading Recommendations:
- Last Day In Vietnam by Will Eisner
- Love and Rockets by Jaime and Beto Hernandez
