What happens to someone, especially from a very religious community from the Caribbean, when they finally find the courage to boldly declare that they're atheist? Is there any way they can prepare for the potential fall out from family and community? Are Caribbean atheists destined to be relegated to the category of social pariahs or will they be able to stand boldly in the light of reason and assert their non-belief? The Yardie Skeptics continue their changes and transitions theme on Sunday, July 20th at 12:30pm EDT (11:30am Jamaica time) as we consider the potential implications of coming out atheist. Joining us live in studio will be Ferlin Pedro, Guyanese national and founder of the Guyana Secular Movement, as well as members from his group. What has the experience been like for Ferlin when he came out to his family in the deeply religious country of Guyana? And how has he progressed since then? In the first half of the show we'll conclude our interview with author, poet, and Brooklyn based educator Mo Beasley on the subject of "Religion, Sexuality and Spirituality in the African American Community."
