群眾募資指的是個人或小企業向社會大眾募集資金的一種集資方式，這個概念早在18世紀就已經被用來向支持者募資並完成專案了。因為被搬到網路上的關係，群眾募資在近幾年變得更加盛行，也有越來越多的產業開始利用它來完成他們想做的事，像是線上課程、電玩、加密貨幣等等。而在 2012 年美國總統歐巴馬簽署通過 JOBS 法案合法化這些群眾募資平台後，更讓創業者募集資金更為容易，也可能創造更多的工作機會。
