Many of you may remember Academy Award winning actor Anthony Quinn for his roles in famous movies such as, Lawrence of Arabia, The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Zorba the Greek. But some may not know that Anthony was also a gifted and prolific artist and art collector. His art was not limited to any specific medium, he loved oil painting, woodworking, sculptures and more. In this episode of Your History Your Story, our guest is Anthony Quinn’s widow, Kathy Quinn. Kathy will share stories from the life of her husband that will include his humble beginnings in Chihuahua, Mexico, his move to the United States as a young boy and his fascinating acting career with highlights from some of his key movie roles. Kathy will also talk about her late husband’s deep passion for art, learning and observing people and things in his environment. In 2007, Kathy began the Anthony Quinn Foundation to honor her husband’s memory and his love for the arts by providing scholarships for high school students who wish to attend a recognized, pre-college or summer intensive art education program.
