Allah SWT will raise the rank of anyone who does a Rakaah and does a prostration and will also remove one of his errors (Ahmad). In prayer sins are brought forward, placed on the head & shoulders and fall off in Rukoo / Sujood (Baihaqi). The best late night prayer is the one in the middle of the latter half of the night - but very few do it (Ahmad), the 2 Nafl at the end of Eisha is sufficient, view Surah 39 v9 which refers to Uthman (ra) (Ibn Abi Hatim). What will benefit on The Last Day O Abu Zharr (ra)? 'To Fast on a very hot day and 2 Rakaahs in the darkness of the night to help for the terror of the grave ' (Ibn Abee Dunyaa). O Abu Zharr (ra) fast on the 13,14 & 15 - the white nights (Tirmidhi).
