Patients Before Profits: Catapulting Recovery Through Physical Therapy
Manage episode 325648836 series 3003245
If you think of “physical therapy” and immediately think of a massage, hot pack, or exercises, then this episode is for you! There are many flaws in the healthcare system, particularly due to insurance policies, paperwork requirements, and most importantly, the money-making outlook that often overpowers quality patient care. But it doesn’t have to be this way. Physical therapists in particular can make massive changes in the healthcare industry by just taking a few simple steps.
I had the great pleasure to sit down and chat with an old friend who I studied with at physical therapy school at Columbia University, Dr. Joe Lipsky. Joe talks to us about how having phenomenal health and wellness does not have to be fancy, expensive, or have barriers. He says that, in fact, it can be one of the simplest things if people are educated the right way.
Joe dives into issues within the industry, how we can overcome them, and how working in a multidisciplinary team is truly the way to move forward. Joe is currently working on co-authoring a book titled “Trust Driven Care” with Dr. Josh Saturlee. The book is about bringing awareness and a practical solution to the huge issue of lack of client centered communication in healthcare.
Joe uses the combined experiences from his doctorate and continuing education to deliver a unique blend of rehabilitation and performance therapy to clients. In addition, Joe is also the Head of Client Care at Reload where he focuses on sales and the client experience.
