Many thanks to Robert Friedland, MD, a fellow neurologist, for joining me on today’s episode of “The Art of Medicine with Dr. Andrew Wilner.” Dr. Friedland is a Professor of Neurology and Neurobiology at the University of Louisville School of Medicine in Kentucky. He is also the author of a new book, “UnAging, The Four Factors that Impact How You Age.”
Dr. Friedland has practiced neurology for 45 years. During that time, he has treated countless patients with cognitive problems and dementia associated with aging. After years of research, he arrived at an astonishing conclusion:
A decline in brain function does not have to happen with aging.
Further, there are four factors that we can control, which can help stave off aging’s harmful effects. Dr. Friedland asserts that if we are lucky enough to face old age, addressing these four factors can help us age gracefully with a higher quality of life. You can learn about these strategies during our fascinating 30-minute interview.
According to Friedland, “In general, it’s never too late” to develop more resilience against aging.
