Join me as I sit down with Brett Christoffel, the brains behind All Y'all's Foods, to explore his remarkable transformation from a traditional Texas diet to a fully vegan lifestyle. Brett's journey is not just personal; it's a narrative that echoes the growing awareness and shift in societal attitudes toward plant-based eating. Listen in as we discuss the books that reshaped his understanding of health and nutrition, leading to an impressive alleviation of a decade-long battle with depression. He shares insights from his time at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and his inspiring venture into authorship, aiming to educate others on alternative healing methods.

This conversation also casts a light on the evolving Texas food scene, once synonymous with meat-heavy dishes, now becoming a burgeoning hub for plant-based protein production. Brett recounts his own experiences promoting vegan options at the Texas State Fair and the significant cultural pivot as mainstream fast-food chains begin to offer plant-based alternatives. Hear about the unique challenges and humorous anecdotes faced while advocating for a meatless lifestyle in the heart of cattle country. The stories shared illuminate not just a change in diet, but a change in perspective that is reshaping our relationship with food and the environment.

In our discussion, we also tackle the controversial dynamics between government, big corporations, and the medical industry, particularly how these relationships impact public health. Brett shares the exciting yet challenging process of creating and marketing his own line of vegan products, from meatless bacon bits to protein-rich jerky. His dedication to quality ingredients and his commitment to providing healthier food choices underscores a broader movement towards conscious consumption. For anyone inspired by our chat or looking for more resources, the Consciously Clueless community on Patreon awaits with open arms, ready to support your journey toward a more mindful way of living. Join us next Wednesday for another engaging episode filled with actionable insights and heartfelt stories.

Bio: Brett Christoffel is a Texan who realized on 2-10-16 that he loves all animals as he does dogs. This led him to start making plant-based jerky, launching All Y'alls Foods in May 2018. His mission is to redefine Texas protein traditions and delight and nourish customers while saving more animals. He achieves this by using less than 10% of the resources to craft crave-worthy high-quality proteins, currently jerkies and bacony bits. Compared to beef jerky, his products have more protein, calcium, iron, and magnesium and are full of fiber, phytonutrients, and cholesterol-free. Currently, his products are in 400 stores (140+ are H-E-B's), and a portion of every sale goes to support Rowdy Girl Sanctuary, the first Texas cattle ranch turned vegan sanctuary that cares for about 135 animals. Before this venture, he spent over two decades in corporate sales and completed the SKU accelerator in 2020.
