Adverse drug responses are the fifth leading cause of death in the United States today. Traditionally, pharmacy has been very product-based, and it's giving patients the medication that doctors prescribe. However, over the past 20 years, the field of pharmacogenomics has developed, and now through pharmacogenomics, or PGx, we can understand how patients' unique genetic profile actually affects how medications work for each individual.
