Dengue fever is a mosquito-borne illness caused by the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which is naturally found in Saint Lucia. This seasonal disease is known to peak during periods of heavy rainfall, creating ideal breeding conditions for mosquitoes. The last significant outbreak of dengue fever in Saint Lucia occurred in 2020, with over 1,300 confirmed cases reported.
