2.7 million children aged 3-17 have depression or anxiety, 40% of teens aged 12-17 have a sense of hopelessness in the US, there is a growing body of evidence that reflects on our society's staggering mental health crisis. A meta-analysis of 400 studies has proven that music can reduce depression and anxiety in a clinical setting and before surgery, for example.
In this episode, I am conversing with a two-time Grammy award winner, four times Grammy nominated and six times Emmy nominated Musician, and Producer, Luck Diaz, who focuses on curating music for kids. We discuss his journey as an immigrant who truly believes in the art of expression and embracing oneself and his inspiration to create a piece that serves as a way to connect, elevate and transform kids into a place of joy.
We slowly move to the rhythm of understanding the power of music and its therapeutic and potentially healing benefits in a healthcare setting. As we empathetically move through our discussions around the mental health crisis amongst young humans caused by social media, and lack of connectivity, we conclude that the future of health requires one to be bold, kind, and have a great sense of belief in oneself.
