43. Let's Hear it for the Boy (Moms)!
Manage episode 401955907 series 3467454
Raising a child is challenging, no matter their gender... but raising boys just hits different than raising girls! Today, we get honest about all things #boymom: the cultural narratives around raising as on, our own hopes and fears for our sons, and how the relationship we have with our sons is different than the one we have with our daughters.
Listen to learn more about:
- the cultural norm of the "wild boy"
- a possible origin story for the #boymom trend
- how we both felt about having sons
- how we identify - as boy moms or girl moms
- the cultural narrative about the relationship between boys & their moms
- how we REALLY feel about becoming THE mother-in-law
- our fears and hopes for our own boys
- how our goals for our sons impact how we parent them today
Plus, Andrea cringes at her own (former) traditionalist stance on why she wanted a boy first; Jessica seems unsure about how many children Andrea has; and we both wade deep into how our relationships with our sons are shaped by our relationships with the other women that will be in their lives.
