Welcome to Good Friday
Today Ps. Tim reflects on the meaning of Easter and the Great Exchange which took place on the Cross, over 2000 years ago.
Why is the Cross and the Crucifixion of Jesus so important?
Well, this is something which actually took place. There is undeniable historical evidence which confirms that a Man called Jesus was crucified by the Roman Empire around 2000 years ago.
Therefore, this is not mythical, it is something which actually happened. It is important to understand that this event happened intentionally.
Jesus intentionally died, in the most excruciating and shameful way possible, so that the Veil may be torn and all aspects of the eternal and physical worlds could be arranged to allow us to be saved from Sin.
The significance of this event cannot be downplayed.
It is this event which has kicked off our salvation from Sin, given us hope for a better life and access to Eternal Peace.
So why is this the Great Exchange?
Well, Jesus went to the cross for us. He didn't have to go, he certainly didn't want to go but he went intentionally so that he may perform the greatest exchange possible.
During the Great Exchange, he exchanged his:

  1. Pain for our Healing.
  2. Shame for us to claim his Honour.
  3. Rejection for our Acceptance.

There was no more painful way to die at the time, therefore no matter how much pain you have experienced, there is Healing available for you.
No matter how much Shame you carry with you, Jesus has shown there is salvation from that shame, in the eyes of God, because of the cross.
Through Jesus we are always Accepted and Loved, no matter who we are.
Verses:
Matt 26: 36-45
Heb 4: 14-16
John 16:33
Rom 5: 8-11
1 Pet 2: 24-25
