In this episode, I cover some details about company transition, the new podcast and where it's heading. The topics I cover are as follows:
- 2023 was a crazy year indeed!
- Share about working with Dani Wright, That Witch Next Door, my business mentor. She's a business owner, business mentor, podcast host, and leader of That Witch School
- Share a little about business evolution and how my mentor posed the right questions for me to answer. This allowed me to release Wild Experience Gear and blaze a new trail
- Opportunity to now dig my heels in where I am passionate which I am grateful for
- Lunar and Obsidian's debut, and it sounds good rolling off the tongue
- Lunar represents emotional and mental health
- Obsidian represents protection and truth telling
- Share the direction of the podcast and the big plan of reading Old Norse texts beginning with The Poetic Edda and potentially ending with Beowulf over the next 18 or so months
- I give you a break down of what each episode's flow is like which is -I'll read 30 or so stanzas in an episode breaking them down one-by-one, give you notes anything pertinent to the story, and how we can incorporate concepts as it applies to our modern day lives
- Explain the Viking culture– 793-1066 AD - hierarchal, brutal, but also empowered
- Mention of oaths and your word was taken very seriously during this time period
- Reference the Codex Regius writings in 1225
- The Codex Regius of the Poetic Edda is the oldest and most comprehensive source of Norse mythology
- We visit how Old Norse, a Medieval language, in Iceland and Norway is the direct predecessor to modern day Icelandic and both Norwegian languages. It's closely related to Swedish and Danish, and considered a cousin to Germanic languages of Old English and Old High German which are predecessors of modern English and German
- Be sure to following along in the readings by grabbing a copy of Dr. Jackson Crawford's translated version of The Poetic Edda as we kick off on 1/19!
- *I am in no way affiliated with Dr. Crawford or are generating income off these book purchases. I want to give credit where it's due... to the man spent time translating these texts as accurately to modern English as possible, and I love the work he does.*
Enjoy!
