We welcome you to the Madison County Milk House. Hosted by Samantha Field the Madison County, NY Public Information Office. This is where we talk about the big topics both North and South of Rt. 20.
February is Black History Month, a time when we honor the triumphs and struggles of African Americans throughout not only U.S. History, and that includes the rich history of Madison County. Madison County Historian Matthew Urtz tells stories about local people and places like Peterboro played an important role in the Abolition movement. An escaped slave who lived in Madison County famously wrote to Frederick Douglass and said, "There are yet two places where slaveholders cannot come, Heaven and Peterboro." Take a listen to learn more.
