When I was a young boy, we lived across the street from a large wooded area. I remember going out to play one day, and our yard was full of baby frogs. It was like an Egyptian plague, but for a five year old this wasn’t a plague. This was a party. I caught several of the frogs and played with them all day, but I did wonder where they were coming from.
It happened again the next year. So, when I was seven, I mustered enough courage to investigate. Armed with a pith helmet, Swiss army knife and a coffee can, I set out to tackle the woods and see where the frogs were coming from. I discovered two large ponds and finally solved the mystery. I scooped up a few tadpoles and took them home. I told my friends I was going to watch them turn into frogs. Metamorphosis was not in my vocabulary yet.
When they finally crawled out of the water, what totally surprised me was the fact that they still had a tails. That blew my seven year old mind. The frogs had tails. I didn’t know there was a transition from tadpoles with legs to frogs, but I found out that during this process they’re called froglets.
And now some of you are now wondering if I am going to compare our lives to frogs. Well, don’t croak, but yes I am. You see, God is in the process of changing all of us. He has begun a spiritual metamorphosis in our lives. For believers, we are not who we once were, but we are definitely not who we will be in heaven. We are continuously becoming more like Him every day, changing for the better, and that is good news.
