Anger is a common emotion that can be misunderstood for a deeper emotion. Unsettled anger is a trauma response that can unfold into addiction, self-harm, abuse, unhealthy impulsivity, manipulation, and even have the need to seek injustice. Alternatively, anger can become a healthy emotion once we begin to explore our inner dynamic and link other possible emotions from unresolved experiences of trauma. Anger and rage can also be a healthy emotion once we learn what it is that we’re truly in need of, expressing it in a healthy way to resolve conflict, and how to transform it into love or creation. Potentials ways I may express anger in an unhealthy way? Do I indulge in tension within my body? (E.g. ball fists, raise shoulders, clench down on your jaw or grind teeth) Do I shut down and withhold love from my loved ones? Do I punch or throw things? Do I cause physical harm to myself or others? Do I name call, raise my voice, bully, demean, project, name call or feel the need to seek revenge/injustice? Do I feel the need to control others around me? I invite you to journal on this topic and explore your relationship with anger. How does it show up in your life and how often? Notice how and where it sits in your body? Can you have a trauma-free lifestyle by exploring healthier practices? Thank you for tuning in and leave a comment to start an open discussion.
