Thirty-five years after the Korean War, Gen. Charlie Cooper reflects on his time in the Korean War to his B-1-5 Company men at their first Reunion in 1989. The all-expense paid, Atlantic city Reunion was hosted by Lt. Pat McGahn (B-1-5) who was then, Donald Trump's lawyer.
Lt. Charlie Cooper came to the B Company battlefield in April 1951, as a replacement commander straight from Annapolis. Within two months, he was seriously wounded in the spine in battle. His prognosis of returning to duty was grim, however his spirit was strong. After extensive rehab he returned to the Marine Leadership.
Side Note: In 1977, when promoted to Commander General of the 1st Division, one of his first actions was to distribute wallet cards to every Marine. The Band of Brothers Pledge, defining 11 principles that all Marines honor. Before retiring, Gen. Charlie rose to the office of Commanding General of the Marine Pacific Fleet Force 1983-85.

In today's talk, Gen. Charlie uses the term Band of Brothers to describe the comradery and brotherhood that grew in those bitter battles through mutual respect, teamwork and commitment. He shares a few of the inspiring combat stories. Gen. Charlie challenges listeners to "Pursue unselfish leadership" in life. While no longer in combat - instead - in your community, in your family, school and church. Enrich your life and experience the Miracle of a Band of Brothers yourself, in today's world.
