With Dawson away in Greece and Thanksgiving approaching, I (Travis Wyrmwood) am stepping away from our usual paranormal investigations to look at a different kind of haunting - the ethereal echoes of our shared American history. In this special bonus episode, I present a restored 1971 interview with Ove Guberud, my Great Grandfather, originally recorded in Minneapolis for academic preservation by LeRoy Larson.

Ove's intimate account of life in Spring Grove, Minnesota reveals a tapestry of Norwegian-American culture through the lens of traditional music and dance. In a particularly touching moment, he shares heartwarming stories passed down from his grandmother about peaceful encounters with Native Americans in the 1850s, including a simple but profound act of sharing donuts that bridges cultures and generations.

This rare audio document, originally preserved by the University of Wisconsin-Madison Libraries, offers an authentic glimpse into the immigrant experience in the American Midwest. As your host, I provide brief context before presenting this precious piece of oral history in its entirety - a departure from our usual supernatural fare, but one that reminds us that sometimes the most powerful connections transcend time itself.

Content Warning: While this episode contains no paranormal content, listeners may experience unexpected feelings of nostalgia and profound appreciation for the simple moments that shape our collective history.
