自從上一集探討工作帶來的壓力以後，我的思緒自然飄到為何我們要工作？直白來說，問的就是My Little Airport的《邊一個發明了返工》。這星期讀完的其中一本書是James Suzman的《Work: A history of how we spend our time》。書令我想起Jared Diamond的《Guns, Germs and Steel》，因為兩者都是從考古和歷史的角度分析人類進化。作者首先定義工作為「energy capture」，就是所有生物都需要賴以為生的動作（「to live is to work」）。根據這個框架，所有生物都需要工作。但是人類95%的歷史告訴我們，工作並不是我們現在所知所為、為人生帶來意義、滿足感、成就感的「purposeful work」⋯⋯
