In a zoo, training programs for wildlife are some of the most complex and beneficial parts of daily life for both keepers and animals. Believe it or not, each species gets its own tailor made plan and training specific behaviors can sometimes take weeks, months, even years to perfect. The rewards, though, are significant for both man and beast. On this episode of Off Exhibit we’ll take you behind-the-scenes with Julie Grove, The Maryland Zoo’s Animal Behavior and Training Coordinator. Learn what it’s like to train animals and the lengths keepers go to build bonds with the animals in their care.
