In 2017, I thought the key to attracting clients was sounding as smart and technical as possible.
I filled my captions with jargon about time-under-tension squats and eccentric phases - and nobody cared.
My girlfriend, who was part of my target audience, gave me the brutally honest feedback I needed: "This isn’t speaking to anyone!" Once I swapped the complex words for language my audience actually used, everything changed.
