Andrew Mulquin is a Master Kambo practitioner and teacher, and was the first practitioner world-wide trained to Master Kambo Practitioner level by the International Association of Kambo Practitioners (IAKP). Andrew holds group Kambo ceremonies, private treatments and trainings in both the UK and abroad. We discuss the history of Kambo, its indigenous origins, and how Kambo has been used for community building, negative energy (panema) and detoxification. We discuss how unlike many other Shamanic medicines, Kambo is neither psychoactive or psychedelic. We cover the chemistry of Kambo, especially the unique peptides contained within it. Andrew shares his introduction to the medicine and subsequent journey as a practitioner and teacher. He shares client healing stories highlighting Kambo's assistance with fertility issues, depression, pain relief and gaining greater clarity in life. We discuss how a Kambo ceremony is facilitated and what to expect. Crucially, we chat about how Kambo is best harvested, and the importance of sustainable and ethical practices regarding the beautiful Amazonian monkey frog. Andrew shares his knowledge of the current scientific studies into Kambo pharmacology and how aspects of Kambo are currently being isolated for multiple patents in the USA. As a Kambo practitioner, Andrew sees his role as a guide to help his clients through an intense, personal journey with the medicine. During a circle or treatment he is careful to allow space for each person’s process, and to make the experience as easy and as comfortable as it can be. Andrew sees Kambo not as a cure in itself, but rather as a means of allowing a person’s mind and body to function as they should. He feels blessed to have witnessed Kambo affect positive changes in the lives of the many people he has treated. He acknowledges that Kambo is not a medicine for everyone, but for those who it is, it can be a powerful catalyst for healing and transformation.
