HIV is a virus that attacks the immune system. Making the individual susceptible to many diseases. If HIV is left untreated it progress to AIDS. AIDS stands for Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome. When individuals with HIV get appropriate treatment they can live long healthy lives and can protect their sexual partners.
Prevention
First if you do not have HIV continue to use condoms
Do HIV test regularly. " Know your status"
If your involved in high risk behaviors take pre-exposure prophylaxis
Be honest with your partners about your HIV status
