#005 - Join host Dr. Red Hoffman as she interviews Dr. Diane Meier, a professor of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine, as well as well as a professor of Medical Ethics, at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City (listen for NYC ambulances in the background!) Diane is the founder of the Center to Advance Palliative Care (CAPC) as well as a recipient of the MacArthur Foundation Fellowship (also known as a "genius grant.") She shares about the early days of CAPC and describes some of the educational offerings available through a CAPC membership (go online and type in your email to see if your organization is a member!). Diane also discusses the importance of tailoring your message for your audience and reminds us to be thoughtful about our language, particularly when we are attempting to define palliative care.
