Lauren Jones is an elite ultra-marathoner with a broad range of experience covering everything from the Georgia Death Race to Cruel Jewel, Pinhoti, Leadville, Western States, Cocodona 250 (just to name a FEW), to most recently leading the strongest field of U.S. women in history at the Desert Solstice 24-hour!
In this episode, Lauren and Lauren discuss her entry into the sport as a curious mid-packer seeking adventure and experience, to one of the fastest women in the U.S. in the 100-mile and 24-hour formats. We discuss her experience at the 2024 Desert Solstice in detail, including the incredible women's field who pushed each other to great heights - claiming 4 of the top 5 podium spots and challenging each other down to the very last minute!
Lauren recalls that the U.S. women were so competitive that within the last hour of the race, the top 3 (including herself, Meg Eckert, and Marisa Lizak) were all on the same LAP, within 400meters of each other in the final push!
