David Leventhal is the Program Director and Founding Teacher of Dance for PD., a program developed by the Mark Morris Dance Group. David has made significant contributions to the field of dance and its impact on people living with Parkinson’s disease (PD). Dance for PD program offers dance classes specifically designed for individuals with Parkinson’s disease.
Since its inception in 2001, Dance for PD has grown to be used as a model for classes in more than three hundred communities across 30 countries. David has trained more than 2,000 teaching artists in twenty-eight countries.
Research and Writing: David has written extensively about the intersection of dance and Parkinson’s. His contributions include chapters in books related to health and wellness, as well as co-authorizing peer-reviewed studies on the impact of the Dance for PD approach.

David Leventhal's latest contributions are his essays which are part of a collection of essays from leading scientists, artists, creative arts therapists, educators, and healthcare providers about the powerful impacts of music and the arts on health and the human experience in the book "Music and Mind" edited by World renowned soprano and arts/health advocate, recipient of the National Medal of Arts. Renee Lynn Fleming.
David Leventhal is an Educator and sought after in-demand Speaker at international conferences and symposiums, sharing insights on dance, health, and Parkinson’s.

David has been featured in the award-winning 2014 documentary “Capturing Grace”, directed by Dave Iverson, a film that brings to light the transformative impact dance has on individuals living with Parkinson’s.
