Episode 5: The First Step is always the Hardest with Donna Campisi

On this episode I want to ask you a question? Is fear stopping you from achieving your goals?

The first step is always the hardest. Remember the time when we first learnt to walk as a toddler.

We were curious, a little uncertain, we stood up, fell down, then stood up again, and then fell down.

With excited and encouraging people around us, cheering us on, even if we did stumble along the way…no matter how much time it took.

Eventually, we finally walked on our own! Our little legs went running one after the other…we showed no fear, and such excitement!

When facing a goal with a challenge, as adults, we tend to show resistance, fear, doubts, uncertainty, questioning our capabilities, and listening to others who DON’T cheer us on …even if we do stumble at times!

When facing a challenge, or a big scary goal, I believe it’s achievable when broken into ‘baby steps’ and having the right mindset.

This is how I achieved my stroke to marathon challenge. Only initially able to run 30 wobbly steps (from the effects of a childhood stroke) to completing a full marathon (with 11 months of training). My goal achieved!

With the coaching that I had, having the right mindset, not allowing the doubters to get in my way, choosing the right cheer squad, getting out of my comfort zone, and using The Baby Step Method, to move toward my goal, the results were awesome!

Your goal is achievable, doing the baby step method, you will reach the end goal…and I’m not just talking about running, remember! I’m talking about your goal.

I am finding this to be a common theme in my interviews on my podcast, with amazing goals achieved in all areas of life.
