Manage episode 445090310 series 2440936
Do you have massive problems to tackle that feel overwhelming? Ever wonder how to push through mental barriers and achieve goals that seem impossible? In this week's episode, Dr. Jay is joined by Roshan Chhotu to discuss his transformation from a corporate, sedentary lifestyle to running ultramarathons across some of the hottest deserts on the planet. Together, they explore the mental strategies, problem-solving techniques, and self-belief that helped Roshan succeed in extreme environments—and how these lessons apply to everyday life and career challenges.
Roshan Chhotu is a strategist, consultant, ultra-marathon runner, and traveler with a passion for pushing boundaries. As the Head of Strategy and Operations for News Partnerships APAC at Google, he plays a key role in starting, building, and scaling new business ventures. Additionally, he serves as the Commercial Director for 5 Ways to Innovate, where he helps organizations drive forward their innovation agendas. With over 12 years of experience in guiding clients through customer and innovation strategies, Roshan’s expertise is vast. A dedicated adventurer, he has completed numerous ultramarathons in deserts across the globe, including the Gobi March, a 250 km, 7-day self-sufficient race, that he signed up for with only seven months' notice to become a runner.
During their conversation, Roshan tells Dr. Jay the story of how he came to sign up for an ultramarathon in the first place, how he tackled this new massive problem that he’d placed in front of himself, how the first race went and the many obstacles he had to overcome, and many lessons learned for life or the workplace through his ultra running career. At the end, they get into a bit about corporate and business innovation, teasing out some topics in Roshan’s forthcoming book.
