Bowel cancer, also known as colorectal cancer, is one of the most common forms of cancer in Australia. It affects both men and women of all ages and can be particularly deadly if left untreated. In fact, it is the second deadliest form of cancer in Australia with around 1 in 15 people developing it during their lifetime. While some cases are hereditary or due to family history, many cases occur randomly without any clear cause. Awareness about this dangerous condition is essential for early detection as well as prevention.

In this episode Clara & Grace sit down with Dr Penelope De Lacavalerie, a highly experienced and skilled Colorectal Consultant and General Surgeon based in Sydney. She has dedicated her career to providing comprehensive, evidence-based care for her patients, with an emphasis on innovation and best practices. Her passion for helping others makes her an invaluable asset to the medical community in Australia.

She deep dives into this condition and how it affects the body, plus how we can detect it. This condition is often overlooked or misdiagnosed due to its complexity and the lack of awareness. However, with early diagnosis and proper treatment these conditions can be managed effectively.
