Pain, discomfort, tension - it sucks, really, doesn't it? And so it makes sense that one fo the strategies we use to manage it is to disconnect from the bits of our body that hurt (or that we feel let us down).
We disconnect in a number of ways - through language, distraction and blame/shame to name a few. But what happens when these strategies actually amplify the pain and discomfort we're trying to escape?
